Having regular facials allows to boost your skin and help rejuvenate and repair the skin from the harsh environment is it exposed to all the time. It is important when going for a facial that you're seeing a qualified therapist who can analyse your skin and be able to recommend the right products for your skin's needs. So many people don't understand the importance of this and feel happy to buy products off the shelf according to their understanding of what their skin may be like. For example, someone might be experiencing oily skin, and then buys a product off the shelf in a shopping mall for oily skin and then after awhile can't understand why their skin is in fact just MORE oily! Sometimes the skin's oilyness is a indication of dehydration. The body realises this and provides more oil to prevent the skin from drying out. So, when stripping more oil, the MORE oil your body will produce. So, when having a facial, the most important part of the facial is the skin analyses.
Many people ask how often they should have facial treatments? I like to recommend at least once a month and the most, once a week. This depends on what type of treatment one is having, for example, someone who is having skin rejuvenation would come in once a week for the regular exfoliation treatment. This also depends on what product the salon may be using. Clients who are experiencing acne would also need regular facials and the acne can be treated! It's best to use less of your own hands and more of the therapist hands when it comes to treating acne. I just find that clients who suffer with acne tend to pick their skin and cause further breakouts...this can be handled without feeling the urge to squeeze! I'll go into more detail about acne in another post. Facials are wonderful to have.
The prodecure of a facial treatments are as follows: The skin is cleansed and then the therapist will have a look at your skin under a white mag-lamp light where the analyses of the skin takes place. Once having a look at the skin, the therapist will then determine the exfoliation, mask and moisturiser. During the cleansing, the steamer may be used, this helps to open the pores and allows for better cleansing of the skin. During the exfoliation, this helps to remove dead skin cells and therefore removing the dullness of the skin. After exfoliation, the therapist may perform a few extractions - squeezing. Now remember that the skin is a lot softer after it being steamed and exfoliated and therefore whatever congestion there may be, will be easily removed with hardly any effort. It's does not have to be painful! Now the best part comes, the massage! This is when the neck, back of shoulders and decollete muscles are massaged as well as the facial muscles. This takes up to about 10minutes of the treatment. Absolutely lovely and relaxing! After the massage, the therapist will apply the chosen mask and this will be left on the skin for approximatly 15-20minutes. During this time, this is when I like to give my clients the foot massage, the ultimate deep relaxation! The mask will then be removed and then the toner and moisterizer will be applied. So that's the facial experience mentioned briefly!
If you haven't experienced a facial and would like to prevent premature aging, start your facial treatment soon!
